Week 4 Assignments

Class Work

  • Review the Introduction To Biblical Greek youtube playlist. Watch each video at least one.
    • Pay attention to how the noun case changed depending on its relationship to the main verb (e.g. subject, object).
    • Pay attention to the prepositions and the case of their object.
    • Practice repeating what I say in these videos. If you can then “role play” some of the scenes together that would be great. I know you don’t have all the props, but you can use yourselves!
  • Review the Reading Practices from the Intensive Assignments.
    • Read the text of each each reading practice together. Help each other with pronunciation and vocabulary.
    • As you review each reading practice text in turn, role play or act out the scene like we did together in the intensive. If you can, feel free to ad-lib as you practice using vocabulary that might not be in the text specifically.
  • Greek keyboard setup and practice
    • I realize many of you are having trouble with the keyboard setup. I realized that the keyboard you are installing might not be linux compatible, and might not follow the key layout you are using. Therefore, I am now going to recommend installing the Keyman Polytonic Greek + Keyboard. This should be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, though if you already have a built-in system polytonic Greek keyboard on your computer you do not need to install this.
    • For those of you who do install the Keyman Polytonic Greek + Keyboard, you can see the keyboard layout here.
    • Figure out which ones of you (τίνες ἐξ ὑμῶν) have the polytonic keyboard properly setup and which ones of you can get the correct keystrokes for the diacritics.
    • Then, those of you who can, help everyone else in figuring out their keyboards.
    • To test, make sure you can type this sentence: ὁ ἀνὴρ εὗρεν τὸ ποτήριον ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ.

Homework

Practice typing the words from the word bank into the correct slots. You do not need to do the accent marks if you don’t want to. If you want to first practice getting the correct words in the slots before typing, you can click on the slot and then immediately click on the word from the word bank and it should go in the space.
